Who we are and what we do
The WCC was created in 2019, as a result of a governance review managed by Rotherham Borough Council. Previously both Orgreave and Catcliffe Parish Council's raised precept funds from the residents of Waverley. Orgreave Parish Council, and supported by their borough councillor, were concerned that funds were not being spent on residents needs in Waverley, nor was there any synergies between the two communities, direct transport links, or social activities. The consult governance review consultation was managed by Rotherham Borough Council and the WCC was created.
Councillors give up their personal time to prepare and attend monthly meetings as well as other social engagements, such as the Dig & Chat, litter picks etc. They do not get paid, and they are not volunteers. An individual councillor is the holder of public office and must abide by the Code of Conduct.
The Community Council Meetings are normally held on the 1st Wednesday of each month - see the diary of meetings for more information. Currently the WCC meets in the AMP Technology Centre off Brunel Way. As the WCC meetings are mostly in the evenings, there is no reception service. Access to the AMP is therefore through the rear door. The Clerk will usually be there 10-15 minutes before the meeting starts to welcome residents. Once the meeting has commenced, there will be no-one to let later comers into the building.
For further information relating to the services offered by the Community Council please contact the Clerk who will be happy to give advice and assistance.

Councillors Code of Conduct
At the meeting on the 6 October 2021, the Councillors agreed to adopt the Rotherham Borough Council version of the 'Local Government Authority' code of conduct. The rationale behind this, is because the Monitoring Officer sits in the RMBC.
It was reviewed in May 2022.
