Who we are and what we do
Waverley Community Council forms part of the Borough of Rotherham Metropolitan District in South Yorkshire. It has a population of around 6,000 people, but is set to grow to 10-12,000 in the next decade. The parish of Waverley was created by a governance review, which concluded and established the Community Council in May 2019 .
The Community Council, as a parish council, is the first tier of local government and carries out a range of duties for the betterment of the local community. Waverley Community Council comprises of seven councillors who are elected by residents every four years and give their time voluntarily.
The Community Council Meetings are normally held on the 1st Wednesday of each month - see the diary of meetings for more information. Currently the WCC meets in the AMP Technology Centre off Brunel Way. As the WCC meetings are mostly in the evenings, there is no reception service. Access to the AMP is therefore through the rear door. The Clerk will usually be there 10-15 minutes before the meeting starts to welcome residents. Once the meeting has commenced, late comers will be unable to join.
One key aim of this website is to promote openness and accountability in all aspects of the Council's business, where possible we place all our information on the website. Please contact the Clerk who will be happy to give advice and assistance if you can't find what you need.

At the meeting on the 6 October 2021, the Councillors agreed to adopt the Rotherham Borough Council version of the 'Local Government Authority' code of conduct. The rationale behind this, is because the Monitoring Officer sits in RMBC.
It was reviewed in May 2023.
