Highfield Lane road closure - update
Highfield Lane road closure - update from Duffy the contractor
With the recent closure along Highfield Lane creating increased traffic down Parkside Way, despite this not being the designated diversion route, it has become clear that we need to implement additional measures for the safety of the residents along Parkside Way.
We will be extending the road closure along Highfield Lane approx. 20m past the Highfield Lane/Parkside Way junction so the fencing will close off access from Highfield Lane/Parkside Way completely, this work will be carried out on Wednesday 14 January.
The existing footpath will remain open for pedestrians.
Residents will still be able to access their properties via Askham Way/Woodhouse Drive which will be a resident access only and no through route.
Signage and barriers will be put in place to reflect this as well as a marshal for the first 3 days to ensure residents can access their properties safely, and others directed accordingly if they choose to ignore the road closure, diversion, and resident access only signs.
This will prevent people from using Parkside Way, Woodhouse Drive, Bamford Walk and Hawes Way as a short cut.
We will also be communicating this with the school and other contractors on the Waverley development to confirm the change is for safety reasons.
The works will continue until he week commencing of February 1 2026.
